I am humbled to be presented with two awards at the Global Wedding Awards 2024: Documentary Wedding Photographer of the Year 2024 – South Island and LUXlife Wedding Photography Dedication Award 2024.
I am a Marlborough wedding photographer who provides outdoorsy couples who hate awkward poses with documentary photography in New Zealand.
These UK-based awards showcase wedding businesses from around the world, who provide their couples exceptional service. To be recognised from little old Aotearoa New Zealand, tucked away at the bottom of the world is just amazing to me.
To receive an award for documentary wedding photography really touches my heart.
Documentary photography captures what naturally occurs in front of the camera, without direction, staging or posing. It is not forced or fake.
This style of photography tells your story through the capture of real moments. It documents events you would normally do on that day, even if the photographer wasn't there.
Memories are expertly documented through the photographer's people skills; emotional intelligence; years of experience; use of composition and light; observation, patience and anticipation.
Having only moved to the region recently, it's wonderful to be able to introduce my unique style of wedding photography to Marlborough.
I love learning your true stories that occur on only your wedding day. It's not just about you getting married or two whānau coming together. It's about the tiny stories along the way. Grandma's pride in seeing her only Granddaughter in a pretty dress instead of jodhpurs, mud and a hoody. Your uni mates enjoying a few drinks together after years of working in different cities. Your toddler's view of the day as the centre of attention.
